Not exactly science, not really Art. Its a bit like engineering ideas or building universes. Its what I do for a living, and I love it...
Apple OS X  Apple do it again with a phenomenal combination of Mac usabilty and aesthetics with rock 'ard UNIX. The business.

Apple System 7.1  Years ahead of its time, and probably the first truly usable operating system. Its lifetime encompassed Win3.1 & Win95 both of which were vastly inferior. There are people still editing for TV on System 7...

Micros**t Windows Server 2003  I'm still surprised at how much I like it. Quite good though obviously bug-ridden and prone to inexplicable crashes.

Quark Xpress  'Quark', as it's known by those who love it, It ran in as little as 8MB of RAM and it would put together full-color layouts for print media. At the time it was the bleeding-edge 'killer app'.

UltraEdit - The Professional Text Editor  I have tried them all and even with my Mac-bias I cannot find a better, quicker, more usable editor for all text-based needs. Infinitely expandable. V. highly recommended.
